Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From the first interaction with Dan who helped in the design, and Nathan and his team building the project it was a great experience. Dan and Nathan with his crew treated our project like it was maybe their own. Attention to detail and listening to our concerns was always important to them, and I can understand why they came highly recommended from a neighbor. Thanks so much.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently worked with Madison Fence Company to put up a fence in our back yard. Dan was our sales rep and he was fantastic! He made about a dozen different quotes and plans for us in order to find the right material, design, and price for our needs. Alex was the project manager for our fence and was very genuine and professional from the initial walk through to the very last day. If any questions or concerns came up, Alex was always there to help and guide us through the process. Henry did our install, and he definitely had his work cut out for him! We had a challenging layout with a difficult design, which Henry had to do all by himself. We are thoroughly impressed with Henry’s work and his thoughtfulness in including us throughout the process. Our fence looks great and we are so excited to enjoy some additional privacy and keep our dog safe. Thank you Madison Fence Company!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Madison Fence Company quoted, designed, and installed a horizontal wide-plank cedar fence for us, and every step was professional, warm, and welcoming. David handled the introduction, walked us through the options, and put together the quote — and the final price came in very close to what he estimated, which we really appreciated. Isaac did a phenomenal job with the installation. He was receptive to our feedback and worked it in quickly, and the install itself went fast. For anyone with fence needs, we'll always recommend these folks.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t say enough good things about Nathan and Johanny! They did an amazing job on our fence, and the whole experience was excellent from beginning to end. This is actually our second project with this company, and there’s a reason we came back. Every time, they go above and beyond what is expected. Nathan and Johanny were professional, hardworking, incredibly detail-oriented, and you can tell they genuinely care about the quality of their work. Our fence turned out absolutely beautiful, and we couldn’t be happier with it. It’s so refreshing to work with people who don’t just come in and “get the job done,” but actually take pride in making sure everything is done right. A huge thank you to Nathan and Johanny for all of their hard work. You guys were amazing! We will absolutely be using this company again for future projects and recommending them to anyone who asks.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were very happy with our experience with Madison Fence Company from start to finish. Michael came out and did a great job explaining our options, helped to design our fence, and gave us a detailed quote. David came out the day the crew started the job and reviewed everything with us to make sure the crew knew exactly what needed to be done. Kian's crew worked quickly and did a great job. Our new vinyl privacy fence looks great! We would highly recommend Madison Fence Company for anyone looking for a new or replacement fence.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great work. Initial inspection brought up issues I hadn't even thought of ( tree root avoidance, property-line tweak and input regarding neighbor's fence etc ). Didn't have to wait long between downpayment and work starting ( 3 weeks I think ? ). Install took them 3.5 days total due to super-hard ground and a heatwave warning, but all went well. They corrected a couple of small things I wanted changing afterwards ( supplier blemishes on some wood ), all replaced ok. Everything tidy afterwards. Would use again no problem.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had Madison Fence Company replace a well worn cedar fence with a walnut stained, capped, cedar fence. It is a thing of beauty!! From sales through installation the process was seamless and the communication was excellent. Over the two day installation, the entire crew was friendly, helpful, courteous, professional and efficient. Cleanup was thorough and the walk-through after installation was informative. Any questions were answered. Thanks to everyone on the team for a great looking, high quality fence!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently had Madison Fence replace my fence. Every step of the process was easy and organized. The sales person was knowledgeable and the quote included pictures so I could choose the best options. The owner stopped by to discuss a small concern, and that was easily resolved before the work started. The crew consisting of Nathan, Johanny, Setan and Mehdi all worked efficiently to finish the project in one day. When the work was finished, we did a final inspection and all of my requests were completed to my satisfaction. I like supporting local businesses and I would recommend Madison Fence for your project.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We hired Madison Fence to install the "Cadillac of Fences," (their term) and seeing it now, we 100% agree with them. In one week our old chain link was removed and a new, pre-stained wood fence with top trim and board on board (our anxious dogs can't see through it at all) was installed exactly as promised. We got several quotes and Madison Fence was not the cheapest, but what we got was worth every penny extra. Hire Madison Fence and relax, knowing that your fence will be installed quickly, professionally, and the end product will be a pleasure to look at every day. We were fortunate enough to have master installer Isaac, "The Fence Artist" (our term) handle our job and we're pretty sure we now have the best-looking fence in the city.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Yesterday Madison Fence installed a dog enclosure around my backyard. The crew of 4 were exceptionally polite and followed my instructions to a T. They resolved a couple of sticky issues and communicated well.
I also have to give kudos to Dan at the office, who was patient through a number of changes that I made along the way, including cancelling the project and restarting is 6 months later.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a really great experience with Madison Fence Company. We worked with David on the initial quote and they were able to get us in several weeks earlier than originally expected, which was awesome. Overall, communication was great the whole way through, and they were very easy to work with.

The day the project started, Alex and Sal showed up and walked through all the specifics of the fence with us to make sure everything was right. After that, Sal installed the entire fence completely on his own over the next three days, and it turned out absolutely perfect. You could tell he really took his time to make sure everything was level and looked as clean and professional as possible, and the attention to detail really shows.

The timing ended up being perfect too—we got the fence finished just in time for our dog’s birthday, so now he has a yard he can run free in thanks to Sal and Madison Fence Company. We’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking to install a fence—especially if you get Sal working on your project.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Although I did not have a fence installed by Madison Fence Company, I wanted to State how professional and honest David was when he came to do my quote. He let me know that my job was very small and that they had a large overhead so it would make my tiny project quite costly. He referred me to a company that could do a smaller Project without the high overhead. This level of honesty seems rare these days, and I truly appreciate receiving this service from him!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had a fence installed by Madison Fence Company and it was a great experience and I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a fence installed in the Madison area.

Michael made the initial design process very straightforward and helped us understand exactly what we would be buying. Michael walked around the property with me and we quickly landed on a layout that made sense and following that he put together a 2D plan to better see the dimensions and available fence design options, the online interior selection was simple and concise.

After ordering the fence at the end of October in WI, we didn’t have much hope of getting it installed until spring, but the team at Madison Fence Co, braved the cold weather at the end of December to get our fence installed. They worked quickly and had our fence up within 3 days.

The fit and finish of the fence is great and we love that our dog now has a safe and secure place to run around and explore.

Again, if you are looking for a fence to be installed, look no further than Madison Fence Company.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience with Madison Fence Company. They had competitive prices, they were friendly and fast, they cleaned up after themselves, and my fence looks great. When I had an issue with my gate freezing shut, they had a solution for me within 24 hours. I would recommend this company to anyone in need of a fence, and I plan to use them again when I'm ready to replace an additional fence on my property.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Madison Fence Company replaced my very old and dilapidated cedar fence this past summer. It was a fairly big job, but the work crew was very skilled and efficient and the whole job was done within a few days. I went into the project with David (an owner) after some frustrating tries with other companies; the issue was I wanted a very specific design which was no longer standard, but David was open-minded and creative about it and came up with a nice workaround. They were also able to create unique modifications to handle obstacles such a large tree root grown over the fence line. The bottom line is I was very happy with the project and based on my experience would recommend this company highly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to build a fence?

The cost of building a fence varies based on several factors. The primary considerations include the type of material you choose (such as pre-stained cedar, vinyl, ornamental fencing, etc.), the style of the fence, the number of gates, and the total length of the fence. We calculate the linear footage by measuring the perimeter of the area where the fence will be installed. Our team will provide a detailed estimate tailored to your specific project, so you’ll know exactly what to expect before we begin. For those seeking a budget-friendly option, chain link fencing is often one of the most economical choices.

What is the best fence for my backyard?

Choosing the right fence depends on your specific needs. When you work with Madison Fence Company, our estimator will visit your property to learn more about your goals—whether it’s privacy, safety for pets and children, or enhancing your yard’s appearance. After seeing the space and discussing your preferences, we’ll guide you through the best options. From the curb appeal of white vinyl to the classic charm of pre-stained cedar or the low-maintenance appeal of ornamental aluminum or steel, we’ll help you find the perfect fence that fits your needs and budget.

How long does the fence installation take?

At Madison Fence Company, we typically complete the average residential fence installation within a few days. That being said, the duration can vary based on the size and scope of the project. We often use our no-dig installation method, driving posts with gas or hydraulic drivers, which keeps the ground undisturbed and your yard clean. If we encounter roots, rocks, or utilities, we may need to dig some holes by hand, which can add to the installation time. Once all the posts are set in the ground, the installation timeline becomes much more streamlined. Our team will communicate with you throughout the project to ensure we’re all on the same page. If you have any questions, just reach out!

What is your service area?

At Madison Fence Company, we’re proud to serve Dane County and its communities, including Madison, Fitchburg, Middleton, Cross Plains, Waunakee, DeForest, Sun Prairie, Oregon, Verona, and more! We also extend our services to neighboring counties. Whether you’re in the heart of the city or one of the surrounding areas, we’re here to help with your fencing needs!

What if I'm in a Veridian neighborhood?

Veridian neighborhoods that are still under construction are managed by DSI Real Estate Group. Every fence requirement can be found under the Fencing Applications & Information page on their website. Once a neighborhood is completed, HOA management is passed on to the community as a Conveyed Neighborhood. You can find a list of conveyed neighborhoods here. Bottom line, we’ve done a lot of work in these communities and can help guide you through that process.

Are you licensed and insured?

Madison Fence Company is a licensed contractor in the State of Wisconsin and we are fully insured.

What fence type requires the least amount of maintenance?

We like to say that we’ll maintain the things that we care about, and that goes for fences too. While no fence is absolutely maintenance-free, different styles have different maintenance requirements. For chain link and ornamental aluminum and steel, washing the fence to remove dirt, grime, and buildup may be necessary. Vinyl fences might require washing off grass clippings, dirt, or other buildup. With cedar fences, it’s important to stain them with a high-quality, oil-based stain every few years to protect the wood from the elements and maximize its lifespan. Good news! We offer pre-stained cedar to protect your fence from the get-go, along with a maintenance plan so you don’t have to worry about upkeep. A pre-stained cedar fence is David’s (our founder) favorite!

What if I don't know where my property lines are?

We recommend that if you’re uncertain about property lines, that you get it surveyed. We work with local surveyors and offer this service to our customers so that you don’t have to worry about juggling 7 different things to get your fence built. We want you to be able to just say “Yes”, and then go on with life. We can handle the details for you.

What do I do about permits or my HOA?

We have dedicated team members to help you on this! For permits, we’ll let you know whether you need a permit, we’ll handle all the paperwork and keep you updated on the process (If you live in the City of Madison, you don’t need a permit!). Many HOA’s prefer to work with the homeowners directly, but we’ll be here to arm you with all the information you need to make that process easy.
